The Story..

Picture
The Forgotten People started with four ordinary people who were living simple regular lives.  A passion and desire was placed in each one of their hearts to reach out to those who had felt alone, neglected and forgotten.  On January 19, 2012 was the beginning of a treacherous journey up a mountain to a village where a discovery was made of a blind woman who had been praying for over 20 years for a church.  She had been walking with assistance up and down these mountains for over two hours just to get to the nearest church. This particular village had expressed that they had felt forgotten and their prayers were that God would send someone to help them build a church. We had the honor of being the first ones to have ever climbed for two to three hours to reach the people in the mountains and be an answer to their prayers.       Guatemala is the 8th poorest country in the whole world. About 75-80 percent of its population lives in poverty. The lack of good infrastructure, deficiencies in Public Health Care, overcrowding, insufficient sanitary services, the many diseases, and the absence of education are just some of the many needs that the people in Guatemala have.
Chijo, Guatemala is located up a mountain, just to get to the small village you would have to walk about 2-3 hours. Because of this reason the people there live in complete isolation and have identified themselves as the “forgotten people”.

Even though these people have many needs, when we were there they told us that above all, what they needed and wanted the most were churches and schools. They viewed church as a necessity in order for them to be able to worship and glorify Jesus.
This touched our heart and in that moment we took their need and made it our own. Our mission is to first of all, let these people know that they are not forgotten. They are, as well as us, sons and daughters of God. Our goal is to raise money so that we can go and meet their two most important needs, build churches and schools for them. To build one church or school it costs $6,000.With your help we will be able to let them know that we care about their needs and that we are identifying ourselves with them. Thank you so much for taking part of our project and sowing into the Kingdom of God.
